Yeah, it may be worth trying to track down a bunch of cheap / free pets to at least get to the 20 Miniatures mark for 2 extra points.

I'll have a look in to these challenges once I've done the Nightfall campaign. I may end up improving both the EotN and NF heroes for 10 companion statues for another extra point.

Ah, I didn't know about the cost of 1k per title due to the signet. I've still not done that tutorial! I'll have to find some other titles if I want that then.

I'm not actually sure tbh. I was just judging this by the comprehensive guide in this section. I don't think I'll have the money to buy any of them though. So was going at it from the effort required to craft them / quest towards point of view. The Oppressor may be achievable if I can do the war quests in Prophecies

I think I may end up upgrading 10 heroes. As soon as I get used to the quest to add one, I'm sure it'll be a breeze to just farm the mats for the upgrades of the rest.

Then take the birdee with you when you run around finishing other quests/missions/campaigns. It won't gain xp from quest/mission rewards...but it will gain xp from mobs as you go. One warning...if it dies, all your/the hero's skills will be unusable for about 5-10 seconds. Depending on what you're doing at the time, let it die and continue on..the dead pet continues to gain xp while dead Once it's 20, it has it's own space in the HoM.

Finally...create a PvP ranger. PvP toons are automatically level 20 and the rangers come with a level 20 wolf. Take the wolf to the Zaishen Menagerie and turn it in to Emyrd the Tamer (I think?). Then swap to your rit (with /R as their secondary and with Charm Animal on their skillbar). Speak to Helena and ask her to spawn 4 level 20 wolves for you. Charm one. Register it in your HoM under the generic Animal Companion statue.

This *should* give you the missing point to make 20/50
I think both of these would only give me an extra point if I used them to work towards 10 companions. By looking at the calculator, the Black Moa alone gives me the achievement for 'Any Pet Statue' and 'Any Rare Pet Statue'.

Thanks everyone for the tips. All such a helpful bunch! Nice that I don't have to level the Nightfall Heroes also before adding them to the HoM.

Well no. I was talking about Elite lux/kurz as we're talking about the HoM....
I don't know how much the cost of sapphires and rubies changed, but the last time I crafted it I spent around 200k, which is more or less how much elite kurz/lux costs now.

I'm thinking this may be my best bet now:

http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=m... AAAAAAAAAAAA

If I do it this way, I can get away with only running through the one campaign (Factions) and EotN. I'd love to be able to play through them all at some point, but Mass Effect 3 is just round the corner, which is gonna eat up a lot of my time

Not necessarily. I created a PVP ranger but (presumably) because I don't have a PVE ranger with any of the pet summon/charm skills my ranger didn't start with the skill.

Whups....yepper you're both right there. This is what I get for typing too fast before the coffee kicks in. Completely forgot the Black Moa counts as both an animal companion and "rare" pet. Also didn't even occur to me that since I have Charm Animal unlocked via my PvE ranger that it wasn't already avail on a new PvP toon. My bad >.<

I'm just having a coffee now with a nice oat and raisin cookie /blog post

I bought myself a miniature last night for an easy point. It cost me 2k for the Siege Turtle, which seemed like a good deal judging from the prices in the thread posted earlier.

Will have to work towards the Black Moa Chick for the Unique and buy Shiro for the Rare.

I heard a mention before of Nicholas the Traveler and how I should seek his weekly quest out as you get pets from that. Are his quests pretty difficult for a starter?

Edit: How do the dedicated minis work? If a player dedicates a pet to his Devotion monument and then sells the same pet to me, can I then dedicate it to my monument?

The Guild Wars Wiki says:

Quote:
This dedication process is irreversible: once added to a character's monument, that particular mini cannot be undedicated or dedicated for any other character. However, dedicated minis can be traded to and displayed by other players.
So it seems as though I could. But I keep getting warnings from people that it has been dedicated already so not sure what's going on :/

Edit 2: Ah, turns out I can't dedicate an already dedicated pet. I guess that quote means it can be displayed as in game, and not in the monument. Damn you!

Yes you can display it=you can double click it and show it around, but sure you can't put it in your hom.
As for Nicholas, imho not worth it at all. The minis from his gifts are damn rare, you could farm him for months or years and never get one. I was so lucky to get yakky from the very first one, but that was unbelievable. The only thing Nick is worth farming for is if you're going for the consumable titles, but I don't assume you are. Seen you're not gonna play for long, I think that activity is a total waste of time for you.
And uhm people selling siege turtles for 2k??? It's like the most common mini, one that's usually given for free or trashed....but I guess with this HoM spree....

Thanks Mintha Syl

Finding minis is going to be pretty hard then!
